Have you ever had a moment, to look around you and mentally and physically smile, with the thought of "This is a Good Life!"? Have you ever taken a moment, to look around while things are at peace?
I had a surreal moment last night, with this exact....well what I can only call a gift of gratitude for "This Good Life." After the three little ones were in bed, Carefree and Thinker were still up, one reading, the other finishing up her Math assignment.
I had started seedlings in the house of basil and green beans and to my surprise most of them took right off, and now needed to be replanted in larger pots. I took my potting soil, my seedlings and my trusty Ipod with ear phones out to the deck. I asked HH to go over Math with Thinker, as my Math skills are at that 3rd grade level, and frankly, Thinker has surpassed me. I'm not proud to admit that, but it's true. I took several Math courses more than once in order to pass, yikes. I thank God for a husband like my HH, who is not only willing to help the kids in their homework, he's quite skilled at Mathematics to boot!
Anyway, back to my "Good Life." I stood on the deck transplanting each little seedling into bigger pots and planted a few left over flowers from last week's major gardening project. My hands were filthy, my shorts were turning black, and my hair kept falling in my face, which resulted in smear marks of dark streaks of soil across my forehead. I can't imagine what the scene must have looked like to an observer!
I found a satellite station on my Ipod and couldn't help but bop to the beat while planting twenty or so little, delicate seedlings.
Then I turned around. I peeked into the house. I had my "Good Life" moment. While listening to some random song, I peered in to see HH leaning over Thinker at the table, he pointed to the text book, looked down at her face, while saying something to her, and she looked up at him, laughed, nodded, and went back to her numbers calculating.
I glanced at Carefree on the couch, reading, and then suddenly, he smiled at whatever he was reading, that seemed to intrigue him.
I turned back around, looked up at the bright blue sky, a breeze splashed my face, blew the hair away from my eyes, and as I looked back down to my filthy hands, my sunburned arms, and sore feet.....I thought to myself, "This is the Good Life."
Ever have a moment like that? Tell me about it....or tell your own blog readers about it. I truly believe, gratitude is one of the most underrated virtues. Use my pic above, and link back here....or simply comment below!
